Low-Level Brain Stimulation Repeatedly
Proven Effective for Stress
MINERAL WELLS, TEXAS, USA. A low-level electrical brain stimulator is managing the widespread stress seen in the aftermath of terrorist attacks without the side effects of drugs. Used by Kuwaitis after the Gulf War, Alpha-Stim microcurrent technology has been proven safe and effective in dozens of clinical studies for the management of stress-related disorders. Available only by prescription in the USA since 1981, Alpha-Stim is non-addictive and very safe.
Alpha-Stim is a cranial electrotherapy stimulator, or CES for short. The results are usually immediate. It uses an extremely low level of current of no more than 600 microamperes, typically applied for 20 minutes to an hour every other day. The treatment induces a relaxed, yet alert state. One application usually lasts for days. It is cleared by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of anxiety, depression and insomnia.
Electromedical Products International, Inc. located in Mineral Wells, Texas, manufactures the device. A spokesperson for the manufacturer said they have had more research published this year than any other time in the company’s 20 year history. Much of the most recent research focuses on the treatment of fibromyalgia, a severe pain condition. However, that research also showed significant improvement in anxiety, the ability to sleep better, and various other stress-related factors.
Physicians responding to a survey on a total of 500 patients reported that significant results were seen in 93% of their patients suffering from anxiety and stress, 90% of their depressed patients, and 79% of their insomnia patients. Patients’ self-reports were similar with 95% of the 2,500 respondents reporting improvement in their stress, 90% with anxiety, 89% with depression, and 94% with insomnia. Research has even shown that severe phobic patients, most of whom were on medications, also responded extremely well to Alpha-Stim CES, losing their fear after a single treatment.
The Alpha-Stim is also approved for marketing in the European Community and other countries. No prescription is necessary outside of the USA.
